Text Box:      The Lord began working in our lives, and preparing us to follow His call, years before we could have imagined where  His call would lead us.

Jack is the son of a Navy Chief and a stay at home mom, born at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Arizona, he spent  much of his childhood on the East Coast and later in the  Mid-West where he graduated from Southwestern High School in Piasa, Illinois. He later returned to Arizona to attend college. Sheri is the child of a Southern Baptist Pastor  and Pre-School  Teacher, born in Prescott, Arizona; when a teen her family relocated to Lakeland Florida, where she graduated from Lakeland Senior High School. They met  when Sheri returned to Prescott, Arizona to attend college and were married in 1982. Jack & Sheri are the parents of three boys, Cristopher, 24, living in San Antonio,  Texas;  Ryan, 23, living in St. Louis,  Missouri; and Stephen 17, a Home School Student who resides with his parents in Torreón, Mexico.

Jack became a career soldier and served in the U.S. Army. As a military family, life mandated that we move, often! So  God began to prepare us as we lived in many countries and cities through out the world. We quickly became experts at  packing, leaving “things” behind and saying goodbye (little did we know how useful these skills would be to us). We learned to acclimate to different cultures, climates and “norms” in each place we lived. We learned that the world was big and that our way was not always the best way. We learned that as Americans we had a very limited view of the world, and made it a practice to be a part of whatever society we were living in, and to take something good with us from each place we lived.

We fully believe that God strategically placed us in each of our assignments as He worked in our lives and our hearts,  showing us how great the need was for the lost in our world to be reached. He taught us to love the people and the areas where we lived and to see the world through their eyes and hearts. During a tour in Augsburg, Germany we became active members of an IMB Church, and began to see missions from a new perspective. In areas all over Europe we saw the apathy that had replaced any desire to follow God. In Korea we watched as Christianity spread through the country at a rate that made it impossible to even count the actual numbers coming to Him. Little did we know, through all of these things God was working in our lives!

After Jack retired from the military, Sheri’s work as an Accountant took us to the St. Louis, Missouri area. While members of First Baptist Church of Arnold, Missouri  we  were constantly presented with opportunities to participate in international and local missions. Through each of these opportunities the desire in our hearts “To Go’ grew stronger, and each time we returned home we had a clearer understanding of God’s will for our lives. After surrendering to God’s call, the road to the Mission Field was not a quick or easy one, but it was definitely a road worth traveling. God called us to follow Him in faith, to leave behind what we considered “ours” and trust in Him. He promised to equip us, care for us, provide for us and He has never failed.

Hello!  We are the Thomas family, Jack, Sheri & Stephen and are blessed to be serving as missionaries with the International Mission  Board, in the North Field and Border Lands of Mexico.   We work as Gospel Saturation Leaders, helping to facilitate  the beginning of   Church Planting Movements.  This is accomplished through Prayer Walking, Gospel Saturation and beginning new Bible Studies. Currently our family lives in Torreón, Coahuila Mexico, however, we work in the ten northern states of Mexico (this includes: Baja Norte,   Baja Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa, Chihuahua, Durango, Coahuila, Zacatecas, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas).  Our family arrived in Mexico December 28, 2003 and began what has been a non-stop learning experience!  As we have worked to learn the language, understand the culture, become an active part of the  community, and yes share the word of   God, our days have been full.
